Although it’s been years in the making with little news about whether the anime will receive a second season after the film’s premiere, one member in production steps up to address the sudden shift for the series.

MAPPA’s CEO Says Chainsaw Man’s Upcoming Scenes Belong On Larger Screens
With Reze Arc Full of Explosive and Dynamic Fights, Film is the Place to Be
In an interview with ScreenRant, Manabu praised the author’s work in the original manga. Tatsuki Fujimoto’s depictions of the fights inChainsaw Manare heavy with action and detail, making quite the work for the studio to recreate faithfully. But MAPPA’s president says it nailed it for the Reze movie.
“Fujimoto-sensei’s movie-like manga expression is used in a very good way. Especially the battle and the explosive scenes. I think there are a few reasons, and one of them is that Fujimoto-sensei’s manga expression is really very cinematic; the explosions, the action, it’s just made for film.”
WhileChainsaw Manmay not have gotten its second season, Manabu believes that the Reze Arc will be adapted much more faithfully and accurately as a movie. Stating that, “Since you know it’s a fan-favorite, you know to deliver it to more people, and we thought cinema is the better choice.”
As a film,Chainsaw Manwill be able to adapt the Reze Arc with a larger budget dedicated to its newfound status going into the cinema. And withMAPPA already allocating for the changes in animationand direction, fans should be more excited than ever to see how the film turns out once it hits theatres on September 19th in Japan and October 29th in the US.
Anime Movies Have Proven to be Big Hits
Adapting Large Chunks of the Manga in One Fell Swoop
Chainsaw Man’sReze Arc could just be made for the bigger screen, similar to howDemon Slayer’sMugen Train arc was adapted into a film to fully encompass the events as they unfolded. This not only provided a better viewing experience for the arc, but the animation had surpassed that of its previous season.
Mugen Trainwould also grow to be one of the largest high-grossing filmsboth in Japan and internationally. There are many films that go to show that taking manga adaptations to the big screen is greatly rewarding, not only for MAPPA, but for fans too, as they get to witness the most exciting moments inChainsaw Manget the attention it wholly deserves.
