John Boyega opens up about how he and Kevin Feige have had conversations about him potentially appearing in theMarvel Cinematic Universe. Ever since Phase 1,the MCU timelinehas been recruiting numerous actors as some of Marvel’s most iconic and obscure heroes and villains on the big and small screens. But as the MCU continues to expand, there are still plenty of Hollywood stars who have yet to join the Avengers-centric franchise.

At this year’s C2E2 (via@MCUFilmNews), Boyega shared during his panel hosted by Josh Horowitz that the Marvel Studios president once asked the British star what Marvel Comics character he would like to play in the MCU. While he didn’t have an answer at the time, a fan in the crowd shared their own suggestion. The audience member suggested that Boyega should play the X-Men hero, Bishop, who has only been featured once in live-action, inX-Men: Days of Future Past. Boyega was not against that idea, as he said,“Oh, I’d play Bishop.”

What John Boyega’s MCU Comments Mean

As exciting as Boyega’s response is about him and Feige having had conversations, there are key takeaways to take into account as far as his involvement with the MCU. To begin with, just because Boyega is interested in playing Bishop,it does not mean that Marvel Studios is actively casting for that character, especially astheX-Menmovie rebootis still in very early development. Given that there’s no director attached to theX-Menreboot, casting isn’t even happening for the time being.

However, regardless of the Bishop of it all,the positive aspect of Boyega’s revelation is that he seems definitely interested in joining the MCU franchise. The only thing that is unclear from Boyega’s comments regarding Feige asking him about the MCU is if this is something that happened recently or if it was a conversation that happened years ago. But the fact that Feige has spoken to Boyega could imply that they are - even if slowly - trying to find a place for him in the MCU.

Our Take On John Boyega’s MCU Comments

With Boyega and Feige having had conversations, the bigger question now is whether there is an intention to introduce him into the MCU during or afterThe Multiverse Saga. If Boyega ends up joining the MCU at all,it wouldn’t be shocking if he doesn’t get introduced until after The Multiverse Saga is over, especially now that Marvel Studios is working on the nextAvengersmovies. But hopefully, given how talented Boyega is, it won’t be long until fans finally get to see him in theMCU.
