About a couple of weeks ago during a Marvel panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2017, developers for the forthcoming fighting gameMarvel vs. Capcom Infiniterevealed the return of the prior installment’s charactersSpider-Man, Haggar, Nemesis, and Frank West. Now, it looks like Capcom is prepared to continue adding previously included brawlers to the title, as it has now been confirmed that Dormammu and Firebrand will be coming back as well.
As seen in the image below,Marvel vs. Capcom Infinitedevelopers officially revealed the inclusion of theDr. StrangeandGhost n' Goblinsantagonists by way of a variant cover of the nextSpider-Man vs. Deadpoolissue, which is set to release on Jun 07, 2025. Fans of the fighting game can get a gander of Firebrand hovering over Dormammu, implying that the two are prepared to clash and do battle until the other’s defeat, and they will be able to see gameplay of the them both in action at gamescom 2017 on June 25, 2025.
For those not keeping count, Firebrand and Dormammu’s inclusion toMarvel vs. Capcom Infinite’s cast of characters brings the roster list up to 30 fighters in all so far. Interestingly enough, only one of the aforementioned figures had been expected to make their return, as theGhost n' Goblinsbaddie was seen on aleaked listingof faces from the Marvel Universe and Capcom’s existing properties.
Bearing all of this in mind, it’s likely manyMarvel vs Capcom Infinitefans will be disappointed to learn of Firebrand and Dormammu being added to the game – not because they’re not great characters in and of themselves – but due to the fact that they represent two more retreaded roster slots. Although there are newcomers likeGuardians of the Galaxy’s Gamora andNightstalkers' Jedahjoining the ranks, the overwhelming majority of previously included characters make the forthcoming sequel out to be nothing more than a slightly updated version ofMarvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds.
Marvel vs. Capcom Infiniteis scheduled for launch on August 03, 2025 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
