It’s been a while since we’ve seen any assets released for 4A Games' forthcomingMetro Exodus, with one of the more recent updates having come in the form ofa trailer during E3 2018at Microsoft’s press conference. Now, the developer has decided to provide yet another look at the third installment in the first-person shooter series, by releasing a new trailer at the European video game convention and trade fair, gamescom 2018.

As seen below inMetro Exodus' official gamescom 2018 trailer, fans are initially given a look at the protagonist Artyom exploring what looks like a quiet, idyllic area among the mountains with the valley setting lush with flowers, wildlife, and forestry. However, even though players will be thousands of kilometers away from the ruins of Moscow, once the sun sets, Artyom will be facing a slew of creatures and enemies that go bump in the night.

At a first glance, it appears as if night time inMetro Exoduscould potentially be even more dangerous than enemy encounters in previous entries, as the footage provides brief highlights of big, mutated baddies, feral human tribes, packs of ravenous wolves, and more. Additionally, Artyom will be coming across a bevy of spine-chilling set pieces, as several of the environments on display are chock full of nightmare fuel.

Taking all of this into account, whileMetro Exodusdefinitely looks to be coming along nicely, fans will still have to wait to find out for themselves whether or not 4A Games has managed to provide the sequel with gameplay that will make it a worthy successor to its predecessors. Unfortunately, however, players will need to exercise a considerable amount of patience, as the first-person shooter has beendelayed into 2019. That said, though, it’s safe to say that 4A Games will be using the time from the delay to refine and polishMetro Exodusas much as possible before launch.

Metro Exodusis currently scheduled to release at some point during Q1 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
