The Wide Beam will allow players to destroy any three-dot door, known in-game as “Wide Beam Covers”, by simply shooting them once. After a single blast, these obstacles will be destroyed and will never hinder the player again–which is more satisfying than it should be.

In addition to being able to open these doors, players will also be able to move large rectangular obstacles known inMetroid Dreadas Wide Beam Boxes.
