Ever since themissile launchcrackedFortnite’s sky, dimensional rifts have appeared across the map. While these rifts are leading up to season 5, they are still creating a certain level of chaos within the battle royale game. Typically, these rifts take items, such as the Tomato Town mascot; however, the latest rift to appear left something behind instead.
Appearing on the hill between Greasy Grove and Snobby Shores, a new rift brought a relic from another time with it. The rift closed soon after, however, but in its place, it left an aged anchor. OneFortnitefan noticed the item was called a Viking Anchor in the game files, leading to speculation that season 5 will feature different historical themes.
Moreover, it’s worth mentioningFortniteitems, notably Greasy Grove’s Durr Burger mascot, have begunto appear in the real world, which means it’s possible that this anchor has some real-world implication. If items taken fromFortniteare appearing in the real world, then it stands to reason that items appearing inFortniteare taken from the real world. Check out the anchor below:
Of course, until Epic Games officially comments on the Durr Burger or the anchor, all of this is simple speculation. Considering the end of season 4 is less than a week away, it’s possible players finally get answers as to what’s coming withseason 5soon. Until then, however, it seems likely strange items continue to appear - both in-game and in the real world.
With the ongoing buildup to season 5, it seems likeFortniteplayers will be in for a real treat, and the popularFortnitemap will be undergoing some serious changes. Speculation has some believing areas such as Tomato Town will be destroyed or that there will be numerous smaller changes across the map. With how widespread the rifts are, the latter seems likely, though this Viking Anchor suggests some larger changes are coming as well.
