As the year came to a close,Final Fantasy 16producer Naoki Yoshida promised fans that the game would feature a new, big reveal sometime this Spring. This means fans can expect to learn more in the next few months, and there’s still plenty to see. It could be a new story trailer, a gameplay trailer, or any number of things, though many would understandably like to learn theFinal Fantasy 16release date.
Either way, while official news seems to be a few months away, fans think they’ve spotted something interesting. Square Enix artist Kazuya Takahashi recently posted new character work, seemingly celebrating the arrival of 2022. What’s interesting is that it appears to be the older version of an already knownFinal Fantasy 16character, Jill Warrick.

Final Fantasy 16revealed some background information about Jill, back around its reveal, where it was revealed that she was a “political hostage” taken from her homeland at a young age. She was seemingly treated well, with Jill being raised by the Archduke as a sister and trusted confidant to the other main characters, Clive and Joshua. She is confirmed to be 12-years-old when she is seen in the trailer, but the image below may show what she’ll look like afterFinal Fantasy 16’s time skip.
It could be someone else, but the blue markings, hair, and general face shape may very well suggest that this is the older version of Jill. Players already know the game features some form of time skip, as Clive is first seen as a young warrior before transitioning into more of a grizzled veteran. What’s more interesting is the leadingFinal Fantasy 16theory on Jill that, namely, she is Shiva’s Dominantmuch like Joshua is the Phoenix’s. Not only does the older version still fit the expected color scheme to accompany Shiva, but Shiva is seen fighting Titan in the trailer. Clive could even be hunting her.
There’s no guarantee or hints that this newFinal Fantasy 16character artis actually Jill, as Takahashi posts plenty of art that is likely unrelated; meanwhile, it could still be the Shiva dominant if it isn’t Jill. It could be someone else entirely. Nonetheless, even as a small little teaser, this art seemingly shows someone fromFinal Fantasy 16, and fans seem to love the potential design of Jill.
For now, fans will just have to wait and see if this is what Jill looks like after the time skip.Final Fantasy 16newsis on the horizon at least, which means fans may have answers sooner rather than later.
