Is Resident Evil A Good Fit For A Strategy Game?

An Unusual Choice - But One That Could Work

A mobile strategy game might feel like an unusual fit forResident Evil, but this is one of the most adaptable series in the horror genre. Over the years,Resident Evilhas experimented with first-person, third-person, comedy, new characters, new storylines, mainline games, spin-off games, vampires, werewolves, and more. There’s also been the board game, and thedoomed live-serviceResident Evilgame, even if that failed to make a splash. With all this in mind,it’s not all that surprising to seeREmake the move to a mobile strategy release.

Having Hashimoto on board in any capacity is also a major win forResident Evil Survival Unit.Hashimoto is a gaming legend, not only having co-created theKingdom Heartsseries and worked as aproducer onFinal Fantasy 9. He was also a major player at Square Enix, serving as a member of the board of directors, and also being brand manager ofFinal Fantasyfor over a decade. Although he retired from Square Enix back in 2022, Hashimoto is the perfect fit for any type of strategy game release, and it will be exciting to see more about this newResident Evilat the reveal next week.
