Upon the launch of theNintendo Switch, some owners of the console encountered connectivity issues regardingJoy-Con sync problems, which required fans of the company to ship the system in to the Big N in order for it to be fixed and sent back to the user over the course of several days. Now, players have come across another annoying situation with the console – this time related to the battery – but thankfully, it’s being addressed somewhat in the hardware’s latest update.

According to myriad reports fromNintendo Switchowners, the system can often appear to go from a full charge to an almost completely drained battery in just a matter of minutes, or it simply won’t display that the battery is charged at all, even after sitting in its dock for multiple hours. The latest system software update aims to provide a fix to this troublesome issue by not only offering up “General system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience,” but also by “[addressing] an issue in which the remaining battery charge can’t be displayed accurately.”

However, it seems as if the Version 3.0.1 update itself isn’t a foolproof solution to thebattery lifeissue, which has led Nintendo to share additional steps that are supposed to nip the problem in the bud after going through them multiple times. So, to truly ensure one’s battery is in tip-top shape, Switch owners will need to run through the following steps in a rinse and repeat process in order to “gradually” fix the situation.

All things considered, should the latest software update for the Nintendo Switch not fix the battery problem outright, then it’s likely that a lot of fans who have been affected by the issue will be incredibly miffed to learn that they will have to manually go through a convoluted list of lengthy procedures themselves to smooth out the situation. After all, the less time spent playingThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wilddue to a hardware problem leads to more time being frustrated.
