Oblivion Remastered Reveal Date Announced

Bethesda confirmed on Monday that the official reveal for the remasteredThe Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivionwill occur in a livestream on Tuesday, April 22, at 11 AM ET.

The original story is below.

The release date forThe Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remasteredhas purportedly been leaked by Xbox itself. The game sawa slew of leaked images, key art, and more from developer Virtuos Studios' website just yesterday, with many suspecting the game would be shadow-dropping soon.

X userSer_Raven18(viaInsider Gaming) posted a series of screenshots of a conversation the user had with an Xbox customer service representative. The representative statedThe Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remasteredwill be available on April 21as a day-one Game Pass game. A shadow-drop release for the title next week is also suggested. As of yet, it’s unclear if this is accurate information. The support chat also suggests that it will be available for Cloud Gaming, but this element is left vaguer.

Additionally, X userSynthPotatodetailed their own interaction with Xbox’s customer service, in which a representative stated thatThe Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remasteredwill include all of the original game’s DLC. This is likewise unconfirmed.

Everything We Know About The Oblivion Remaster

It Looks More Like A Half-Remake Than Just A Simple Remaster

According to previous leaks,The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remasteredhas been built from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5. The game will allegedly see updates to the combat system’s blocking mechanic, incorporating someDark Soulsinfluences, and stealth mechanics will be overhauled as well. Other reported changes are modifications to the game’s archery systems, new hit reactions, and an updated game HUD. The most notable change will be the update toOblivion’s graphics. However, none of this information has been officially confirmed.

There will also allegedly be a Deluxe Edition of the game that features some bonuses. One of those bonuses appears to be theinfamous horse armor DLC from the original game. Again, that is also not officially confirmed, and does contradict what a customer service agent told X user SynthPotato about the remaster having all the original game’s DLC, but it’s possible the service agent was referencing just the major DLC expansions forOblivion:Knights of the NineandShivering Isles.

Our Take: These Leaks Are Looking Legit

Nothing Is Guaranteed, But It’s Looking Likely

With the initial leaked images coming directly from Virtuos Studios' website, reputable journalist Jeff Grubb’s support of an April 21 release date, and all of this information from Xbox customer support, these leaks look legitimate. Of course, nothing is official until Xbox, Virtuos Studios, or Bethesda Softworks make an announcement.Leaks have been piling up for a whilenow, so it seems likely that the reveal will be sometime soon.

Although one of the Xbox customer support chats includes a message stating that a live customer support agent is involved, it’s not guaranteed that all messages were sent by a live agent.

There are just a few days until the purported release date ofThe Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, so the game reveal and whether it is actually a shadow drop might happen this week. Until then, we are awaiting official confirmation if the game even exists, but the evidence is piling up.
