Ori and the Will of the Wispsis an astonishingly beautiful and technically exquisite platformer. But it’s in part due to the effort thatdeveloper Moon Studiosput into making the game a cutting edge PC title that it might have to be downgraded for the Nintendo Switch, if it ever came to the platform. In a recent AMA,Ori’s developer admitted that such a port would be “extremely difficult.”

“If it were to ever happen though I can tell you that it would be extremely difficult port to make it run at 60fps that’s for sure,” says Moon Studios lead engineer Gennadiy Korol’s in response to a request for a Nintendo Switch port. His implications being thatOri and the Will of the Wispsis so technically demanding that even an optimized port would struggle to reach 60fps.

To his credit, Korol does say Moon Studios loves the Switch, and there’s still a possibility. After all,Ori and the Blind Forestdid end up getting a release on Nintendo Switch in late 2019.Ori and the Will of the Wispscould eventually make its way to the platform as well, Korol just thinks some sacrifices might need to be made to make it happen.

Regardless of whether or not Moon Studios wants to bringOri and the Will of the Wispsto Nintendo Switch, it ultimately doesn’t make the final decision.Oriis published byMicrosoft, so Microsoft would make the final decision. Much like how Microsoft will decide whether anotherOrigame gets made in the future. If fans wantOrion the Switch, or moreOriin the future, they’ll have to let Microsoft know it’s what they want.
