About a couple of weeks ago, Brigitte was revealed as the 27th hero coming to the team-based shooterOverwatch, with Blizzard Entertainment having confirmed her existence as a playable character in the title by way of anorigin story trailer. Although she’s currently in the Public Test Region, the publisher and developer have decided to give fans the exact date for her arrival next week in the full game, with the company making Brigitte available on Tuesday, June 26, 2025.
This much was revealed by a freshOverwatchclip, wherein the game’s lead concept and character artist Ben Zhang takes viewers through the process of how the development team brought the support/tank hybrid character to life. According to Zhang, the creators wanted to stay true to her origins within the game’s comics and animated shorts, and did so by acknowledging her early life as the youngest daughter of Torbjorn, drawing inspiration from her being a tinkerer in his shop.
Those looking forward to Brigitte’s inclusion in the game outside ofOverwatch’s Public Test Region would do well to know that her abilities include Rocket Flail, Barrier Shield, Repair Pack, Whip Shot, Shield Bash, and Rally. With all of these unique skills at her disposal, it’s quite possible that she could become the main of many fans of the popular team-based shooter, as she could be a decent substitute for Zenyatta, or provide solid supplementary healing support to characters like Mercy.
All things considered, it will be interesting to see just how Brigitte plays next week when she’s taken out of the Public Test Region and brought into the fold with the rest ofOverwatch’s roster of heroes. Should her skill set be formidable enough, there’s a chance for her to potentially make her way into the list ofthe game’s most used heroes in competitive play. Nevertheless, we will have to see if she’s balanced properly at the start.
Overwatchis available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
