Phineas and Ferbstar Caroline Rhea has addressed the show’s biggest Dr. Doofenshmirtz (Dan Povenmire) theory and his potential reunion with Linda. WithPhineas and Ferbseason 5set to continue the series on Disney+, the show has a chance to continue exploring ideas that were established prior to its revival. This includes how the title characters' mother, Linda (Rhea), previously dated Doofenshmirtz, becoming his inspiration for taking over the Tri-State Area. While their relationship didn’t progress far, his triangle-shaped head led to theories that he is Phineas' (Vincent Martella) real father, something Povenmire, who’s also the series' co-creator, denies.
Speaking withScreenRant,Rhea addressed the theory that Doofenshmirtz is actually Phineas' real dad inPhineas and Ferb,finding the theory humorous but implausible. The voice actor also teased how interesting it would be to see the pair reunite, although it’s unclear how they’d react to seeing each other. She also hinted at a new character in the series whose appearance she’s excited to see. Check out what Rhea had to say below:
There’s a whole conspiracy theory that Doof is the father of one of the children. You know this, right? I think it’s so funny. [Laughs] That was obviously when she was Lindana. I think she’d be very polite to Doofenshmirtz, but she’d probably think, “Here’s another lunatic, and I will remain calm and offer him some pie.” I wonder, maybe she was madly in love with him. I don’t even know who we’ve met, but there’s a fantastic character that I’ve seen a few episodes in that’s new this season, who is amazing. It’s very vague, but you will love her.

There’s Likely Not A Connection Between The Pair Anymore
Dr. Doofenshmirtz and Linda briefly dated long before the events of the series, but their relationship ended quite quickly despite the connection they shared. However, the fact it happened at all has continued to fuel theories that the first title character is the mad scientist’s son.Doofenshmirtz being Phineas' dad was debunkedwhenPovenmire revealed the series' timeline doesn’t allow for it. Even though Lawrence (Richard O’Brien) is the step-father of Phineas and Candace (Ashley Tisdale), it doesn’t mean the comedic villain is involved in their lineage at all.
Even so, Rhea’s statement indicateshowinteresting it would be to see Linda and Doofenshmirtz reunite, if they even remember each other at all. The pair only went on a single date together, meaning their possible future reunion likely wouldn’t result in anything too memorable. However, since she indirectly inspired his villainous life goal, it’s possible he does still remember their only date together. What this could mean forPhineas and Ferb’s charactersis unclear, but it signals the number of ways their seeing each other again could go.

Will It Happen & Should They Meet Again?
Although it would be interesting to see Doofenshmirtz and Linda interact again, it wouldn’t make sense for something like that to take up a whole episode. Instead, thePhineas and Ferbrevival could offer some nods to their past together, maintaining the show’s focus while still recognizing something that was established in previous episodes. Even so, their potential for a reunion would make for an intriguing episode that could further both of their character’s development in various ways.
