Exclusive:Phineas and Ferbis returning next week, and the show is expected to include some fun new guest stars with its revival.Phineas and Ferbseason 5is arriving on Disney Channel and Disney+ 10 years after the show supposedly ended, continuing the episodic adventures of the Flynn-Fletcher family, while their pet platypus battles the forces of evil. Check out their comments below.

Collage With Jonathan Banks As Mike Ehrmantraut in Breaking Bad

Dan Povenmire:I’m not sure who we can tease, but we have a lot of voices that we were really shocked we were able to get, which is nice. The thing I told Jonathan [Banks] when he came in was, as much as I love Breaking Bad and all that sort of stuff, I always remember him having been thrown through the buffet in Beverly Hills Cop, standing there with all that food and stuff on his face. And he told us about shooting that scene, which was really fun. Every time I see him, I think of that guy, and that expression, and how funny it was without trying to be a gag. His reaction was just very real.

Jeff “Swampy” Marsh:I remember him from Buckaroo Banzai, where he played the hospital employee where John Lithgow was working. I’ve been watching him and loving him for years, so that was really an honor to have him come in. And it’s always fun for people that, in a completely different way, come in and play around with us in animation. We’ve had so many people who’ve said yes to us. And sometimes it’s been solely for the fact that — I remember one of my friends, our kids went to school together, and he came and did a voice and he said, “This is the only thing I’ve done that I can show my children, because I usually play these really horrific, awful characters, killers and whatnot.” He says, “I’m just so happy to come in and play and do silly things.”

Phineas And Ferb

I remember when Malcolm McDowell, who played Grandpa for us, said he wanted to sing a song. I thought, “It’s the last thing you think of for Malcolm McDowell,” and he just had the best time. So, it’s fun getting people to come in and do something a little bit unexpected.

What Jonathan Banks' Cameo Means For Phineas & Ferb Season 5

Stars Like Banks Voicing Danville’s Side Characters Make Phineas & Ferb Better

Jonathan Banks is certainly an exciting addition toPhineas and Ferb, appearing in a role that moderately plays on the persona we associate with him from theBreaking Baduniverse. Other passingPhineas and Ferbcharacters have also constituted sly jokes about who is voicing them; perhaps most obviously, Seth MacFarlane becoming opportunist TV producer Jeff McGarland. Additionally,Phineas and Ferb’s side characters are one of the show’s greatest strengths, and what Povenmire and Marsh tease about future guest stars is a good sign for the revival.

With “a lot of voices that [they] were really shocked [they] were able to get” on the way, fans can expect some more very memorable one-off storylines in the new season ofPhineas and Ferb, elevated by potentially bigger stars than the series has ever seen before. The minor characters who deliver one laugh-out-loud line as a bystander to the boys or Doofenshmirtz’s (Povenmire) chaos are always hilarious, as well as the recurring gag characters and the exaggerated personalities that inhabit the Flynn-Fletchers' world. Additional talented voice actors will only make these moments funnier.

Our Take On Phineas & Ferb Season 5 Featuring Jonathan Banks & Other Guest Stars

These Actors Could All Bring Something Surprising To The Classic Disney Show

Having to take your driving test with Mike Ehrmantraut sounds nerve-racking, so best of luck to Candace! I am very curious to see what other stars will be joining this season — when they say they were surprised some agreed to do it, it’s not like the people who have provided voices before are obscure, so this suggests some huge A-listers will appear. Additionally, the creators' comments on how guest stars input their own ideas and are excited to be in something they can share with their young children promise more twists — this season ofPhineas and Ferbcould go anywhere!
