A new limited-time event themed aroundPikmin 3 Deluxeis coming to Niantic’sPikmin Bloommobile game. The event comes as a part of series ofPikmin Bloom’s “first anniversary events.“Pikmin Bloomis an AR game similar toPokemon GO, but instead of catching Pokemon, players are leading a merry band of Pikmin through the neighborhood. BeforePikmin Bloomreleased, all thePikmingames were on Nintendo consoles only. The newest game in thePikminfranchise,Pikmin Bloomis quite popularand has just reached its one-year anniversary.RELATED:Pikmin 4 Announced for Nintendo SwitchTo celebrate the event, the community gets to enjoy a crossover event that spotlightsthe popularPikmin 3 Deluxe, which released on the Switch in 2020. The limited-time event begins on November 15th, and players will be able to enjoy it until December 9th. The event will allow players to earn unique badges featuring the three main characters fromPikmin 3, find new Koppaite Space Suit Decor Pikmin, and people who have also playedPikmin 3can earn an Onion-style Backpackcosmetic for their avatar. The tasks to earn these rewards are spread across the event’s timeline, with the first portion being available from November 15th to November 28th, and the second being available from November 28th to December 9th.

This should be a great event forPikmin Bloomto increase player engagement on the game’s one-year anniversary. In addition, there’s even potential for the event draw in people that playPikmin 3, but haven’t tried outPikmin Bloomyet. The rewards for the event, like the Decor Pikmin, also seem to be quite good, which will make a lot of players happy to engage in the event tasks and spend more time in the game.

More players would be excellent for both Niantic andPikmin Bloomfans. If the game can keep player numbers and profits up, it’s far less likely that the game will sharethe fate ofHarry Potter: Wizards Unite. The Harry Potted themed AR game made it two years before Niantic pulled the plug, most likely due to its performance relative toPokemon GO. Assuming thatPikmin Bloomcan perform well, it should be around longer than its second anniversary, and fun, reward in-game events like this one can be crucial to that performance.

Pikmin 3 DeluxeandPikminBloomare distinctly two different genres, however, so this event might not draw in as manyPikmin 3players as Niantic would like. What’s important though, is that currentPikmin Bloomplayers are happy with the event and continue to shepherd their Pikmin around.

Pikmin Bloomis available now on Android and iOS devices.
