Pokemon fans were delighted whenPokemon GOadded Team Rocket GO to the game, finally providing players with a real antagonist to go up against. Now it appears that two familiar faces will be joining the cast of evildoers, as a new datamine indicates that the iconic Jessie and James may be added to the game in the future.

Team Rocket GO was added toPokemon GOlast year, with Team Rocket grunts taking over PokeStops and even Team Rocket leader Giovanni making an appearance as a Special Research opponent. However, the iconic duo has been notably absent, so fans may be glad to know that will likely change in the future.

For the moment, there isn’t much information as to when Jessie and James might joinPokemon GO, or even what appearance the duo will have, as there are no assets currently listed for them in the game. However, it’s worth noting that Jessie and James are listed as NPCs in the game’s new data, which is also true of bothTeam Rocket GO gruntsand leaders. This more likely than not indicates that the two, following their addition, can be challenged to a fight in the game.

While it’s unclear when players can expect to see Team Rocket’s iconic - but bumbling - duo, it may have something to do withTeam Rocket GO’s special research tasks being removedfrom the game. Niantic previously announced that Team Rocket GO special research won’t return until at least September, which is a fairly long time to wait. However, this could be intentional. While the game has adapted to the coronavirus shutdown well, even allowing players toremotely participate in raid battles, it may be waiting to implement new important features and the advancement of the Team Rocket GO storyline until players can actually get out there and start catching and battling Pokemon again.

Unfortunately for Jessie and James fans, there may be some time before new material releases with the two. The Team Rocket members are part of the newestPokemonanime, but unfortunately thePokemonanime has been placed on hiatusin order to protect staff members from the coronavirus. But for those willing to wait, it sounds like there will be plenty to enjoy later this year.
