Not long ago, the developer Niantic announced itsplans to bring Gen 3 startersand some other Hoenn region monsters to the popular augmented reality mobile titlePokemon GO. Now, to prepare for the impending arrival of the new creatures, the company has revealed its decision to increase storage space in the game.
According to a blog post from Niantic, the maximum Pokemon Storage inPokemon GOis going to be increased from 1,000 to 1,500 to givePokemon RubyandSapphirefans the chance to nab all 50 new monsters being added. This will surely prove beneficial for players–for as any trainer worth their salt knows–catching ‘em all often results in multiple Pokemon of the same kind being caught.
Additionally, allPokemon GOplayers are going to automatically receive a Pokemon Storage upgrade when the likes of Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip, and other Hoenn creatures are added, with players’ storage space being increased by fifty slots for free. With this occurring, trainers won’t necessarily need to transfer any of their existing Pokemon to make more space for the new monsters about to invade the game.
Of course, it’s important to note that every single bit of storage space being offered inPokemon GOwon’t be for free. As it so happens, in order for players to increase their storage space to the maximum amount, they will need to buy Pokemon Storage upgrades from the in-game store.
As of now, it looks as if the free upgrade hasn’t been implemented yet, butPokemon GOfans should to see the increase as soon as the Gen 3 Pokemon make their way into the game. When the announcement was made just a couple of days ago that Gen 3 Pokemon were on the way, Niantic said that they will be added “later this week,” which will be well beforePokemon GO’sforthcoming holiday event for this year, and could come as early as today.
Pokemon GOis available now for Android and iOS.
