Patient Mudkip fans will soon be rewarded inPokemon GOas Niantic and The Pokemon Company have announced that the water starter fromPokemon Ruby,Sapphire, andEmeraldwill be the next Community Day Pokemon. According to Niantic,Pokemon GOplayers can begin collecting Mudkips in plenty starting July 21. However, July’s Community Day will be unique in that it will be starting in the afternoon, running from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm local time.
As per usual duringPokemon GO’s monthly Community Day, the chosenPokemonwill spawn in multitudes for the duration of the event. On June 21Pokemon GOplayers will findMudkipswherever they go. Shiny versions of Mudkip, pinkish/purplish instead of their usual blue, will also have a much higher chance to spawn during the event.
There’s more Mudkip fun as part of theCommunity Daythan just increased spawn rates, however. Players who put all of those Mudkip to work and evolve one up through Marshtomp and into Swampert will find that their Swampert has an attack that they otherwise can’t learn. The Mudkip Community Day move has not yet been revealed. Additionally, all Lure Modules activated during the event will last for three hours, with Pokemon catches earning 3x the experience normally gained.
Mudkip is an especially great Pokemon to pick for Community Day, given that not all players have access to the environments where thePokemoncan spawn.Pokemon GOplayers would have to go to watery locations including rivers, streams, lakes, or beaches. Now players in dry climates can get their own Mudkip with ease.
Mudkip will be the final of the three starters fromPokemon Ruby,Sapphire, andEmeraldto be featured duringPokemon GO’s Community Day events. Torchic was featured during theMay 2019 Community Day, and Treecko was thePokemonoffered during March 2019’s Community Day. Now fans of Generation 3 and the Hoenn region can easily complete their starter sets.
Regarding the Community Day starting later in the day compared to previousPokemon GOCommunity Days, Niantic says that the delay is to help players stay a little bit cooler during the summer heat.
Pokemon GOis available now on iOS and Android devices.
