Pokemon GOadded Pokemon trading a little over a month ago, and now it’s launching its first event based on the feature. The Special Trading Event went live inPokemon GOearlier today, and it lasts until August 19 at 9pm PDT.
The Special Trading Event inPokemon GOcomes with a bunch of special bonuses players can take advantage of and will encourage them to make use of the Pokemon trading feature. During the duration of the event, all trades will cost 25% less stardust, which is significant considering that more high profile trades in the game can cost over 1 million stardust depending on friendship levels.
Players will also earn more candy for Pokemon they trade during the event, earning up to six candy for each trade. If players receive a Pokemon in a trade that they don’t have in their Pokedex already, they will net triple XP for the trade. This should encourage players to participate in the more expensive special trades with each other, especially if they are trying to reach higher levels in the game.
The Special Trading Event may not be the only eventPokemon GOplayers have to look forward to in August. While it has yet to be confirmed, there are rumors that ageneration 4 eventis also planned for later this month. Rumor has it the event will tie in to the upcoming Eevee Community Days, which some expect will see the addition of Eevee’s gen 4 evolutions Glaceon and Leafeon.
Of course, that’s just speculation at this time, and it’s possible that theEevee Community Dayswill simply help players catch more Flareons, Jolteons, and Vaporeons instead.
While it would be exciting if gen 4 Pokemon made their way toPokemon GOin August, at least players have plenty of other content to look forward to. There’s the Special Trading Event that’s going on, Eevee Community Days, and even more planned. With Niantic consistently providing special events forPokemon GOplayers, it’s hard to complain.
Pokemon GOis out now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
