The first proper Pokemon games for the Nintendo Switch console,Pokemon Let’s Go PikachuandPokemon Let’s Go Eevee, were finally released this week. AsPokemon Let’s Gois largely similar toPokemon Red, Blue and Yellow, despite some changes to the story, players will come across the Helix and Dome Fossils at the end of Mount Moon relatively early in the game. Players will have to make a choice on which Fossil to choose, so here are the Pokemon that each Fossil contains.
The Dome Fossil will give you Kabuto, the water and rock type Pokemon, who evolves into Kabutops, and the Helix Fossil will yield Omanyte, also a water and rock type Pokemon, who evolves into Omastar. Neither of these Pokemon will influence the game in a significant way though, as they are both similar in type and strength, so players do not really have to worry about choosing the wrong Fossil.
For players that are more concerned about their Pokemon’s looks though, Kabuto may be a better option, as it simply looks better than Omanyte. Omanyte, on the other hand, will end up learning more water-type moves, so that is something to keep in mind for those who prefer to battle withPokemon with water-type moves.
Another thing for players to keep in mind is that these fossils will only turn into Pokemon much later in the game when players get to Cinnabar Island, which is the site where you will obtain your seventh gym badge. FromCinnabar Island, there is a lab that players must visit in order to turn whatever Fossil one chose into each respective Pokemon.
Pokemon Let’s Gois not an entirely new Pokemon experience, although it has features that are different fromPokemon Red, Blue and Yellow,such as the ability totransfer PokemonbetweenPokemon GOandPokemon Let’s Go. That said, we look forward to finding out more about the Pokemon game for Nintendo Switch planned for 2019.
