Summary

Following Nintendo’s latest Pokemon Presents showcase, fans got a better look at the upcomingPokemon ScarletandVioletexpansions including the forms of the Legendary Terapagos. It was a big day forPokemonfans as Nintendo held its highly anticipated showcase which was packed with information for the current available games, theupcomingDetective Pikachu Returns, and even provided updates onPokemon Horizonsanime and the World Championships event.

However, for most viewers, the biggest reveals came towards the end when the showcase turned to theupcomingPokemon Scarlet and Violetexpansion packs. Known collectively as The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, Nintendo provided deep dives into both parts starting with The Teal Mask which focused on a special festival event at Kitakami Village. Part 2, known as The Indigo Disk, takes players to Blueberry Academy where they’ll have a new tournament to take part in within the different artificial biomes with plenty of new and returning Pokemon to capture including some unique legendaries.

As fans have seen previously, The Indigo Disk also introduces anew legendary Pokemon called Terapagos. The latest trailer doesn’t feature Terapagos all that much, but the end of the showcase reveals multiple forms in a very quick shot. Highlighted by the folks at Serebii, Terapagos features two forms, a normal version which appears more turtle like with a longer neck and a simple crystal shell, and then a Terastal form which has previously been featured. The shell appears more crystalline with the different elemental logos taking up spots on each individual panel. The officialPokemonwebsite even hints that Terapagos can take on multiple distinct appearances, so there may be more to discover.

Considering thatPokemon Scarlet and Violet: The Indigo Disk is still a few months away from its planned Winter launch, it’s highly likely that Nintendo will be showcasing more information from this second expansion later this year. However, the reveal was surprising to many who assumed the second Terapagos form would have been an evolution instead of an outright different forme. Either way, fans will need to grab both in order to fill out their PokeDex.

In addition to Terapagos, The Teal Mask also brings a number of unique Pokemon for players to catch including atrio of legendaries known as The Loyal Three. As part of the Kitakami folklore, which involves what many assume to be the masked Ogerpon Pokemon, the large bear-like Okidogi, Monkey inspired Munkidori, and the bird known as Fezandipiti look to have a big role to play within they game’s narrative. However, their typing and moveset are still a mystery for now.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violetare out now, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
