As the aftermath ofWWEWrestleMania 41is still settling in, fans and performers have been thinking about the next events and builds for the post-Manialandscape. One event in particular has resonated with the fans since it took place in 2018:Evolution,the first premium live event that featured an entire card of women’s matches.
Speaking toScreen Rantahead ofWrestleMania 41, WWE Women’s Intercontinental ChampionLyra Valkyria, NXT Women’s ChampionStephanie Vaquer, andDakota Kaiall expressed excitement aboutthe reports of a secondEvolutionPLEtaking place this year, and what they’d like to see take place for each of them.
Lyra Valkyria Wants to Face Someone New at Evolution 2
The First-Ever Women’s Intercontinental Champion Is Looking Forward to More Opponents
Lyra Valkyria has marked her place in WWE history as the first WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion, winning the title on January 13th after defeating Dakota Kai. When asked about the possibility of anotherEvolutionPLE and what it would mean walking in as the champion, Valkyria saysshe’s ready for all challengers, past and new.
Oh, I mean, absolutely everything. I’m so excited at the thought of who I would face there. I’m really proud of all the defenses that I’ve had so far, but I know there’s also a lot of women waiting to step up for this. Maybe to face someone I haven’t faced would be really exciting.
With the depths of the women’s roster in WWE, plus the collaborative relationship with TNA, Valkyria has a great opportunity to set up a significant challenger profile to her championship, not only in WWE but cross-promotionally.Evolution 2would be the perfect opportunity for WWE to build both women’s mid-card championships in a meaningful way.
Dakota Kai Is Ready For a Main Card Evolution Match
The Damage CRTL Member Is Looking For Her Big Solo Breakthrough
Dakota Kai, a member of Damage CTRL and a former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion, was in the pre-show match for the originalEvolution. When asked about the next opportunity,Kai says she’s ready for her prime-time debutin the all-women’s premium live event and is excited about the chance to see it come back.
I’m beyond excited. For me, I was on the pre-show. It was a very weird time because I faced Rhea [Ripley] on the pre-show of Evolution. She was UK champ, like the NXT UK champ, but they couldn’t air it because it hadn’t aired on TV. It was very weird. We had a match, but no one really saw it except for the people in attendance. I would love to be on the main card, and I would love to be potentially going after the [Women’s] Intercontinental title, maybe on the main show.
Kai’s match with Ripley was a great one, andfans were disappointed not to have seen it take place during the event itself. Kai has a built-in story to chase Valkyria for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship already, having lost to her in the final round of the tournament, and adding this to theEvolution 2PLE card would establish a solid rematch opportunity, and hopefully will give Kai her crowning moment.
Stephanie Vaquer Wants To Represent NXT on Evolution 2
The NXT Womens Champion Is a Break-Out Sensation
Stephanie Vaquer, the current NXT Women’s Champion andthe first double champion in NXT history, joined WWE with major fanfare and celebration, viewed by many as one of the best women’s wrestlers in the world. When asked what she’d like to see happen during Evolution 2, Vaquer said she’d like to continue her representation of NXT.
I [will] continue representing my NXT women’s division, but I’m so proud for everyone because that’s the best women’s division on the planet. So if we have a big show, that’s amazing. Many talent, amazing wrestlers, so we can do amazing things.
Vaquer, successfully defending her championship in a fatal four-way atNXTStand and Deliveragainst Giulia, Jordynne Grace, and Jaida Parker, continues to have a dominant run as the brand champion. Bringing the NXT element to Evolution, along with their incredibly deep roster, would only enhance the product by both elevating and showcasing the future of WWE on a major stage.
