While exact details are currently unknown, it seems possible more about Blackout will be revealed at E3, although if it’ll have a presence is unknown at this time.

With the introduction of this battle royale mode,Black Ops 4joinsPlayerUnknown’s BattlegroundsandFortnitein the battle royale community. While it remains to be seen if Blackout proves to be as popular as the aforementioned games, it does seem likely given the popularity of theCall of Dutyfranchise, and it seems that PLAYERUNKNOWN himself has welcomed the franchise into the fold.

As seen in the tweet below, PLAYERUNKNOWN tweeted atCall ofDuty, welcoming the company into the club. Considering the intense rivalry betweenPUBGandFortnite,it’ll be interesting to see howCall of Dutyshakes up the ongoing “whose battle royale mode is better” debate.

Of course, some gamers may be feeling like there is an overload of the battle royale genre in the market. It’s worth mentioning thatCliffy B’s Boss Key Productions is shutting downafter trying to enter the battle royale market withRadical Heights, which lost 82% of its player base in just two weeks. That’s not to say, however, that battle royale is losing any momentum; matter of fact, it’s quite the opposite, as evidenced by the feedback of the longstandingBlack Opsfranchise’s entrance into the genre.

One arena thatBlack Ops 4,Fortnite, andPlayerUnknown’s Battlegroundswill likely go head-to-head is on Twitch where battle royale streams remain prominent. As of two months ago,FortnitesurpassedPUBGas the most watched and streamed on the streaming service, withFortnitebeing watched for a total of 4,000+ years and streamed for 240+ years. WhenBlack Ops 4launches, it’ll be interesting to see how and if Blackout shakes up these statistics.
