PlayerUnknown’s Battlegroundsis a game that Microsoft has a vested interest in, as the publisher has heavily pushed it as a major console-exclusive. Considering this, it came as little surprise whenPlayerUnknown’s Battlegroundswas shown at Microsoft’s E3 2018 press conference, where a new trailer confirmed that two new maps are coming by the end of the year.
The first new map coming toPlayerUnknown’s Battlegroundsis theSanhok jungle map, which is notable for being much smaller than the Erangel and Miramar maps that are currently available in the game. Sanhok is coming to the Xbox One version ofPUBGthis summer, and it will be joined by a new map that will be available this winter.
In the winter, those playingPUBGon Xbox One can look forward to a new snow map. The snow map is currently unnamed, but we know that it’s been in the works for quite some time. Catch a tease for thePUBGsnow map as well as the Sanhok jungle map right here:
Besides new maps, the Xbox One version ofPlayerUnknown’s Battlegroundswill also feature some other new content. For example, new items are coming to the game, including riot shields that players can use to defend themselves against enemies. Riot shields should add an extra layer of strategy to the gameplay, and at the very least, should give players more options when out in the battlefield.
Another addition coming to the Xbox One version ofPUBGis theWar Mode game type. War Mode is a special match type where players battle it out in larger squads, and really changes thePUBGdynamic. PC players have enjoyed multiple War Mode events inPUBG, and this could be a sign that more limited-time events will come to the Xbox One version from here on out.
With all this new content, it looks likePUBGis going to continue being a major part of Microsoft’s strategy moving forward.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegroundsis out now on PC and mobile devices, and is available on Xbox One through early access.
