Resident Evil 3won’t be out until next week, but because theRE3demofor been out for a while, the modding community has been free to mess around with the upcoming remake ahead of time, but mostly with the giant terror Nemesis.
The demo has only been available for nine days, but in that time a number of memorable mods have been released, with most modders focusing on finding new ways to makeRE3’s central enemy much more threatening, while at the same time making him sillier as well. So far these have includedturning every enemy in the demo into Nemesisand replacing him with the mod-friendly Thomas the Tank Engine.

But when it comes to pure terror, there are arguably few that compare to a mod from a modder called Marcos RC, one that turns regular coat-wearingNemesisinto “Beachboy Nemesis,” a muscular bio-engineered giant clad in only a tiny speedo with the Umbrella logo on the front. It’s a nightmare only the footage below can truly convey.
The video credits the mostly-nude Nemesis model to a modder named MisterHecks, and as it turns out, Nemesis is only the latestResident Evilmonster they’ve put in undersized swimwear. Prior to this, they did the same with last year’sResident Evil 2remake, creating a mod that caused players to be relentlessly pursued by aspeedo-wearing version of Mr. X.
As embarrassingly frightening as Beachboy Nemesis is, it’s not the only mod Marcos RC has designed for theResident Evil 3demo. Most of these swap out Nemesis with other villainous characters from pop culture, likeIt’s Pennywise andSpider-Man’s Venom, while another simply swaps out his face with one that more closely resembles his original PS1 look, addressing thecomplaints fans have had with Nemesis’ designin the remake.
With the mods thatResident Evil 2and now theResident Evil 3demo have led to, it seems safe to say that there will be plenty more to come once the full game launches next week. Whether the mod community will be able to make Nemesis more terrifying than Marcos RC already has will remain to be seen, though.
Resident Evil 3comes out on April 3 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
