The PreCogs Meet Their Match In Rick & Morty Season 8, Episode 9’s Post-Credits Scene

The Devil’s Advocate Bot Is The Worst Customer For The PreCog Restaurant

InMinority Report, a future police force uses PreCogs to predict crimes before they even happen. ButRick and Mortycomes up with a much more mundane use for the PreCogs’ incredible abilities:they know exactly what dish an indecisive restaurant patron is in the mood for. Rick kidnaps the PreCogs to become his own personal maids.

At the end of the episode, the PreCogs end up on Rick’s trash moon, where Morty took his son to meet the discarded sex robot that gave birth to him. On this moon, the PreCogs reopen their restaurant and serve all the inventions that Rick threw away. In the post-credits scene, they finally meet their match.

Earlier in the episode,we were introduced to Rick’s “Devil’s Advocate Bot,” whose prime directive is to question everything he’s told and propose a counterargument. So, when the PreCogs tell him what food he wants to order and he argues against it, they get stuck in a loop of disagreement. It’s a perfect combination of these two gags.

The Devil’s Advocate Bot Is One Of Rick’s Funniest Inventions

It’s Completely Useless

Rick has invented a ton of hilarious gizmosover the course ofRick and Morty’s run, but they usually serve some kind of purpose. The Butter Robot was created for the sole purpose of passing butter across the dining table, but at least that’s useful for people who want the butter and can’t reach it.

Rick and Mortyairs new episodes on Adult Swim every Sunday.

But the Devil’s Advocate Bot is completely useless; it’s just annoying. All it does is take a contrarian stance on literally anything that’s mentioned to it— even its own food order. It’s no wonder it ended up on Rick’s trash moon inRick and Morty’s latest episode, but it’s hilarious that he even built it in the first place.
