It’s been 3 months sinceShin Megami Tensei: Nocturne HD Remasterreleased in Japan on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, with no update from Atlus regarding its western release since August 2020, when the game was revealed. Since then, Atlus has shifted gears to promoting the launch forPersona 5 Strikersnext month, leaving fans questioning whenShin Megami Tensei: Nocturne HD’s “Spring 2021” release window will be narrowed down. Thanks to Austrian games retailer Gameware, fans may know when they can expect this highly anticipated JRPG remaster.
Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne HD Remasterwas first revealed at theAugust 2020 Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcasepresentation alongside the first teaser forShin Megami Tensei 5since 2017. Despite this, Atlus has provided no update on the western release since its announcement. Now, it appears that the game is planned for release in May 2021, according to Gameware, a retailer that previously accurately leaked titles such as 2019’sNeed for Speed: Heat, andthe release date for last year’sKingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory. The leak was accompanied by a listing claiming thatThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2is coming in Q2 2021, which seems admittedly unrealistic.
This May 2021 release date forShin Megami Tensei: Nocturne HD Remastermakes sense, as it places the game 3 months afterPersona 5 Strikers, giving both games room to breathe. The reason behind the gap between Japanese and English releases is likely due toa rumored PC port ofNocturne HDcomingalongside the English release, similarly toPersona 5 Strikers. A consequence of this release date means thatNocturne HDwill likely be competing with titles such asResident Evil VillageandDeathloop, which could negatively affect the game’s sales.
Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne HD Remasterwill release on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 in spring 2021.
