As Microsoft continues to grow its Game Pass empire, it appears the Xbox manufacturer is setting its sights onUbisoftas the next addition to the service, if a new rumor is to be believed.

Naturally, Ubisoft has its own subscription service too,Ubisoft Plus. However, Nick Baker of XboxEra, who goes by the name of Speshal Ed online, claimed on Discord that only some select Ubisoft games would be coming to Game Pass. Baker suggests that only older Ubisoft titles up to and includingImmortals Fenyx Risingwould come to Game Pass. When asked if they thought EA or Ubisoft would start charging more for their individual services, given the price difference between them and Game Pass, Baker called it more likely that EA and Ubisoft would start exploring pricing tiers.
Suffice to say, adding Ubisoft titles to Xbox Game Pass would be another huge boon for Microsoft. Ubisoft publishes some of the most successful games nearly every year, like theJust DanceandAssassin’s Creedfranchises, in addition to franchises likeTom Clancy,Watch Dogs,Far Cry, and more. In terms of AAA games, Xbox Game Pass would only really be missing games from Activision, 2K, and the other two console manufacturers, Sony and Nintendo.
Having Ubisoft, EA, Bethesda, and Microsoft’s own first-party games all on Game Pass would further cement Game Pass as one of the best deals in gaming. Of course, at this point it is still just a rumor, andBaker has been wrong in the pastabout things likeElden Ringmaking an appearance at the 2020 Game Awards.
But on the other hand, this isn’t the first time it has been rumored thatUbisoft games could be coming to Game Pass. An industry insider said in December that the rumors “have a strong chance of being true.” Microsoft confirmed that it approached every publisher about joining Game Pass, so it could be that Ubisoft and Microsoft are still working out a deal and Ubisoft games could come to Game Pass someday.
