Chief Inspector Whitlock and Lady Violet’s Plan Explained
Soon, Lady Violet’s return means the plan is revealed in full as is the answer to the mysterious murder of Amelia’s mother. The plan was to assassinate the British prime minister when he attended the debutante ball at the American Embassy, and Chief Inspector Whitlock planned on aiding the Red Thread Gang by making sure that the assassin, Herbert, got away after the shooting.
The gang then wanted to blame the assassination on the Austro-Hungarian Empire, getting Britain mired in a war that would deplete their resources. Meanwhile, Lady Violet, who had stolen the plans Amelia’s late mother made for new weaponry, would share these with Hungary to ensure England’s defeat.
Lady Violet killed Amelia’s mother to access her plans for weapons, and Dan Moriarty was using the Red Thread to ensure there would be a greater demand for munitions manufacturing.
With this twist, the CW crime drama seriesrevealed who killed Amelia’s mother and why, confirming the suspicions of many viewers. Lady Violet killed Amelia’s mother to access her plans for weapons, and Dan Moriarty was using the Red Thread to ensure there would be a greater demand for munitions manufacturing in America. As always, money was his motive.
However, Holmes shot Herbert when Herbert’s bullet narrowly missed the politician, thus thwarting the plot. Amelia confronted Lady Violet with a gun, but Lady Violet managed to disarm her and Sherlock’s daughter seemed to be doomed to the same fate as her mother. This was when Lady Violet admitted to Amelia that it was she who killed her mother.
Amelia indirectly killed her mother’s murderer and got her revenge at last.
She continued to outline her villainous plan to Holmes and, while she was distracted, Amelia tied Lady Violet’s scarf to the wheels of her carriage. Lady Violet fired at Holmes and missed, but the noise startled her horses and set them running. This broke Lady Violet’s neck, meaning Amelia indirectly killed her mother’s murderer and got her revenge at last.
Dan Moriarty Survived Sherlock & Daughter Season 1’s Ending (But How)
Amelia Trapped The Villain In A Smoke-Filled Passageway
It was satisfying to seeSherlock and Daughter’s heroinebest Lady Violet, but not all of her plans were so successful in the finale. Dan Moriarty attempted to shoot Lord Salisbury after Herbert’s death, but Amelia trapped him in a smoke-filled passageway and assumed he would suffocate with no exit in sight.
Of course, this being Moriarty, he found a way out in time.Dan Moriarty’s survival was implied rather than confirmed, as viewers only saw the hole left in the passageway and not the character himself emerging from Amelia’s trap. Still, since the Moriarty family are Holmes’ most famous nemeses and Amelia is continuing her father’s work, his return is almost inevitable.
Moriarty’s survival will likely be central to the plot ofSherlock and Daughterseason 2, since Lady Violet and Chief Inspector Whitlock were both effectively pawns for the villain. Moriarty is typically depicted as Sherlock’s greatest enemy and the main villain of his stories, so it would add up if Dan becomes Amelia’s primary antagonist throughout the show.
