Over the past few months, Microsoft has been aggressively pushing for regulatory approval over its pending $68.7 billion Activision Blizzard acquisition. In a bid to gain confidence from regulators such as the EU and the UK’s CMA, the Xbox maker has looked to forming long-term partnerships with various entities including Nvidia, Nintendo, Boosteroid, Ubitus, and more recently, a10-year commitment between EE and Microsoft. The agreements will see Microsoft bring Xbox PC games to those third-party platforms following the approval of the Activision Blizzard purchase, spanning over a 10-year period. Interestingly, it appears the company is also making an active effort in growing its own Game Pass userbase to other markets.

Back in February, the tech giant released apreview version of PC Game Pass to 40 countriesat a special testing price via its Xbox Insider program. Now, Microsoft states that its PC Game Pass service will be officially available in these 40 new countries starting today. As a means of enticing new members, the company is also offering two free months of PC Game Pass to those who were part of the Xbox Insider program during the preview phase. As per Microsoft, gamers can expect this to be automatically implemented in their accounts over the next few days.

With the expansion to 40 new markets,PC Game Passis now available across 86 countries. Previously, Microsoft also expanded itsXbox Game Pass family plan to six more countries, a clear indication that the tech giant is leaving no stone unturned when it comes to growing its stake in the gaming sector. As to how things may pan out for Microsoft’s subscription service and its overall market share following the pending Activision deal, time will tell. For now, it’s proving to be an interesting time to be a gamer in Microsoft’s ecosystem.
