Ever since the reveal ofSonic Forcesby way of agameplay trailerearlier this year, fans of the iconic Blue Blur have been hoping to see Sega release more glimpses at the franchise’s classic-style levels for the forthcoming title. Now, thankfully, the company has put out a brand new gameplay trailer confirming the existence of a more familiar type of level from the series with a look at the Casino Forest Zone.
As seen below in the latest gameplay trailer forSonic Forces, fans who enjoy more classically designed stages in which the Fastest Thing Alive can run amok ought to be head over heels for the Casino Forest Zone. After all, it is inspired by the Casino Night Zone, which appeared inSonic the Hedgehog 2, as a level in the Nintendo 3DS version ofSonic Generations,and as a pinball mini-game in the console and PC versions.
The entirety of the Casino Forest Zone inSonic Forcesis designed as night stage that’s chock full of colorful neon lights, game-of-chance references to slot machines, as well as pinball bumpers, flippers, and plungers. As evidenced in the above trailer, Sonic will be given the opportunity to collect a bevy of rings in the area, as the level has them stocked practically everywhere one looks, with one spot even having them stationed as a veritable wall of sorts.
For those unaware, Casino Forest Zone won’t be the only classically-inclined stage inSonic Forces, as Sega has also included the famousGreen Hill Zonein the title. Much like the Casino Forest Zone, the Green Hill Zone is a more polished and glossier take on the original level, with the music even having been updated to reflect a more contemporary sound.
Bearing all of this in mind, it looks as ifSonic Forcesis setting itself up as a solid way for fans of both the 3D and 2D versions of the games in the franchise to fall in love with Sonic the Hedgehog all over again. By including both level designs in the forthcoming title, Sega is obviously doing its best to cater to fans on both sides of the aisle to move a sizable amount of units at launch, asSonic Forcesneeds to have a successful 2017.
