City The Animationis the latest projectto be released from the studio, Kyoto Animation, with its first episode dropping on Amazon Prime Video on July 06, 2025. Based on the manga by Keiichi Arawi, the story follows the lives of three young city women dubbed the Mont Blanc Trio: Midori Nagumo, Ayumu Niikura, and Wako Izumi.

As chaotic as it may feel at first,City The Animationnavigates the many storylines well, steadily interconnecting them through small interactions between the main and supporting characters. Kyoto Animation also takes creative liberties in its camera panning through scenes to make each setting come alive as if the audience is stepping into the city itself.
City The Animation Is Only Improving With Each Episode, Testing Its Limits on Creative Animation
Despite it flying under the radar in light of other recent releases,City The Animationis only getting better with each episode drop, competing with some of the highest-rated episodes of summer 2025. In Episode #5 alone, it features some dynamic animation techniques that are really pushing the pocket of imagination and creativity.
Having been taken away by Tanabe’s butler, Naguma resides in the Hospitality Twin Towers, which are animated in a claymation sort of style. With its multiple angles of ongoing narratives, it takes advantage of animating different scenes in the same frames, making for a hefty ask of animators to be sure.
Although the story is told through short moments captured around the setting, each scene and character is portrayed to make them feel alive. There’s love and care put into every pen stroke that no doubt gets a good laugh from the creatives working on it.
