Thebrilliant fantasy world ofDragon Questwill once again keep completionists busy for as long as 100 hours, a translatedFamitsuinterview with producer Taichi Inuzuka revealed. Players who spend less time obsessively exploring every nook and cranny can expect to reach the closing credits in a more modest 30 hours or thereabouts, on average. That still puts the adventure in line with a lot of recent releases to the genre, which lately have skewed shorter than they did in some previous console generations.

According to the same interview,Dragon Quest Treasuresgrew out of a desire to try something new with the series asDragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3(a 3DS entry that remains exclusive to Japan) development reached its conclusion. Although no new installments have been added to that other series in more than 5 years, Inuzuka noted that fans shouldn’t expect it to simply “disappear.” That’s the case even withDragon Quest Treasuresreleasing this week.

TheDragon Questworld looks like it could remain very busy in years to follow, withDragon Quest 12well into development and withnewDragon Questinformation coming this monthat the Jump Festa event. There are a lot of possibilities at this point, from a newDragon Quest Monstersgame, to another installment in the popularDragon Quest Buildersseries, to a less expected treat like a newRocket Slimegame. A new mobile entry is, as always, another possibility. Besides that, there are likely to be new details relating to theDragon Quest 3remake, which is still on its way. One way or another, franchise fans should have plenty to keep them busy through December and beyond.

Dragon Quest Treasuresreleases for Nintendo Switch on December 9th, 2022.
