Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Star Wars: Jedi Knights #6

Star Warsis proving just how powerfulQui-Gon Jinn’sconnection to the Force truly was. BeforeThe Phantom Menaceand his demise at the hands of Darth Maul,Qui-Gon was a maverick compared to his fellow Jedi Masters. Choosing to rely on his instincts and the will of the Force, it’s quite clear that Qui-Gon’s path served him incredibly well.

Qui-Gon ’s Sronger Force Senses in Jedi Knights #6

In Marvel’s new and canonicalJedi Knights #6, Qui-Gon Jinn is on a mission with Aayla Secura and Mace Windu, both highly skilled Jedi Knights and leaders of the Jedi Order. However, the issue quickly confirms that Qui-Gon’s abilities and senses are far superior in comparison, proving just how attuned Qui-Gon Jinn truly was to the Force.

Star Wars Proves Qui-Gon Jinn Was More Attuned To The Force Than The Best Jedi Masters

Investigating the death of one Jedi Master Etzis, Aayla and Mace are quick to presume old age or some kind of accident behind his demise on the planet Mina-Rau.

However, it’s Qui-Gon Jinn alone who senses the darkness surrounding their fellow Jedi Knight’s body, trusting his instincts and belief that Etzis was murdered. Aayla Secura andMace Windusurprisingly didn’t sense anything out of the ordinary. Furthermore, the issue then doubles down when Qui-Gon senses imminent danger out in the fields, while Mace and Secura couldn’t.

Qui-Gon Senses Danger Before Mace and Secura

Unable to sense the presence of their attacker, both Jedi Knights are hit with tranquilizer darts, leavingQui-Gon to face the mysterious and revenge-seeking assassin Corlis Rathalone. As such, it’s not hard to deduce that Qui-Gon’s greater willingness to trust in the Force and his own instincts led to his improved senses.

As he tells his apprentice at the beginning ofThe Phantom Menace, Qui-Gon believes that being mindful of the present Living Force should be a Jedi’s critical focus. He also believes in trusting the will of the Force above the mandates of the Jedi Council, a core foundation of his maverick status among the Jedi Order.

This is more than likely why Qui-Gon Jinn was able to sense the darkness and danger before his fellow Jedi in this new issue, having been better attuned to the Force itself.

It certainly makes one wonder how the rest of the prequel trilogy would have gone had Jinn lived beyondThe Phantom Menace. Perhaps Palpatine’s Darth Sidious wouldn’t have been able to hide in the shadows as well or for as long as he did,had Qui-Gon been around to train Anakin Skywalker as intended.
