Superman and Batman’s Superbat Form Returns to DC Canon
The Coolest Combo Has Never Looked Better
For those unfamiliar with Superbat, he first appeared in Batman/Superman: World’s Finest during the initial arc, “The Devil Nezha”. The villainous Nezha had taken control of Green Lantern and to get the upper hand, Batman and Superman focused their willpower to redirect Hal Jordan’s ring onto themselves, which ended upcombining them into a being with all three heroes’ assets.
Unfortunately, Superbat’s appearance in this issue amounted to nothing more than a cool cameo. While a couple of heroes like Batman Beyond and Jonah Hex are still stuck in the modern-day DCU,Superbat seems to have returned to his proper time and place. But that doesn’t make seeing this Superman and Batman combo again any less cool or exciting.

Years Later and This Fusion is Still Delighting Fans
Superbat’s appearance may have been a one-off, but it’s an incredibly cool idea and it’s good to see it return, even briefly. Perhaps Waid misses the concept and wants to do more with Superbat and is simply testing the waters. But even if this was just a fun cameo, it’s always cool to seeBatmanandSuperman’sgreatest amalgamated form.
