EWshared a deleted scene fromSurvivor 48’s May 14 episode that included Eva opening up about how her physical and mental health have been faring throughout the season. The scene took place while Shauhin, Joe and Kyle were at the Sanctuary following the reward challenge, which meant Eva, Mitch and Kamilla were the three players left to fend for themselves without a food reward. The three of them had a raw and vulnerable discussion about how they were doing physicallyand mentally.

In a confessional, Eva gave much more insight into how she’s doing, including saying, “I’ve never been so low physically in my life, and that low physical state is definitely destroying my mental too because I don’t think I can do anything in this game other than just wait and hope.“TheSurvivorplayer, who made it to the Final 5 at the end of the episode, knows she’s strong, but she admitted she hasn’t been feeling strongin this game. “Strength is so important to me,” she said.

However, Eva has “lost so much of my physicality,” and as a result, she’s not performing as well in the challenges. She added, “I feel like I’m the weakest I’ve ever been.” At camp, as she opened up to Mitch and Kamilla, the latter two players assured her that she’s usually always got a positive attitude, which she attributed to being youngand the world not tearing her down yet.

What Eva Erickson’s Low Physical & Mental States Mean For Survivor

Not Winning Challenges Could Hurt Eva’s Chances

So far, Eva has won one solo Immunity Challenge, which took place duringSurvivor 48, episode 8, “A Rift Between All Of Us.” Earlier in that same episode, she won a Reward Challenge as part of a group with David, Joe and Mary. Since then, she’s been invited to three rewards that other players have won. However, she is still really struggling, which is completely understandable.

In the most recent episode, Kamilla complained that Shauhin chose Joe to go to the Sanctuary, which she felt helped him win the next Immunity Challenge. Sogetting to eat food as part of rewards can definitely help the players, but sometimes, that temporary relief can’t overcome the overall physical weakness they’ve developedin the game. With so few challenges remaining,Eva doesn’t have many chances leftto gain the upper hand by winning Immunity.

There are only two more Tribal Councils before the jury takes control. Eva’s strongest ally, Joe, has won multiple challenges, so he’s got a fantastic resume to secure the $1 million. For Eva,it’ll be very interesting to see how she fares in the final challenges. There’s also the fire-making challenge to take into consideration as well. While Joe or Eva winning Immunity before that will secure both of them in the Final 3 (assuming they choose each other), if someone else wins Immunity, then either Joe or Eva (or both of them) could be at risk of elimination.

Our Take On Eva Erickson’s Chances Of Winning Amid Low Mental State

Eva Can Win If She Focuses On What Matters Most

Physical strength is talked about a lot onSurvivor. However, the state of everyone’s mental health isn’t brought up as much. Competing on a show likeSurvivorwhere they’re stripped of almost everything definitely messes with their mental health. This isn’t just a physical game. The mental aspect is just as important. Eva’s typically upbeat demeanor has made her a great player to spend time with at camp. While she claims her mental state has been destroyed, hopefully, she can focus in on what matters most in the gameand secure a spot in the Final 3.
