Following its cancelation after just two seasons, the reboot ofFrasierhas ended up with exactly the same problem as its original finale. When NBC’s originalFrasierended after 11 seasons in 2004, it left fans wondering what was next for its titular protagonist, played by Kelsey Grammer.

Meanwhile, season 2 ofFrasier’s rebootends with the focus on a touching reunion between Frasier’s friend Alan Cornwall and his daughter. While Frasier and Freddy Crane both do their bit to bring Alan and his family together again,it’s Nicholas Lyndhurst’s character who stars in the clinching momentof what may prove to beFrasier’s last ever episode.

Frasier (2023)

Niles Stole Frasier’s Thunder & Left Its Title Character’s Future Unresolved

As much asFrasier’s original series ended on a high note for Niles Crane, it left things quite literally up in the air for Frasier himself. We saw him touch down on a flight to Chicago, where he intended to move so he could be with his girlfriend, Charlotte, butwe never saw what actually happenedwhen he got there.

Thiscliffhanger toFrasier’s original endingwas resolved in Paramount+’s reboot, where it was revealed that things didn’t turn out as planned for Frasier and Charlotte. Yet, the revival show didn’t manage to resolve Frasier’s story, either.

The Frasier Reboot’s Fate Means Kelsey Grammer’s Character Won’t Get A Better Send-Off

After 40 Years On TV, Frasier Crane Is Left In The Lurch Again

WithFrasier’s revival series now canceled, it looks likeKelsey Grammer’s psychiatrist won’t get what he deservesafter 40 years on television. Grammer surely wouldn’t have wanted the reboot series to go out on the note it did, as hisFrasierseason 3 updateback in March suggests.

Although things worked out for Alan Cornwall at the end of season 2,Frasier’s own story was cut off part-way through. He was just getting together with his new love interest, Holly, and it seemed as though the two of them had plenty more stories to tell together. As it stands, we may never find out what happens between them.

Despite Its Potential, The Frasier Reboot Has Now Made The Original Ending Even Worse

Alan Cornwall Has Inadvertently Reenacted Niles’ Role In The Original Series Finale

TheFrasierrevival was settling into a nice rhythm towards the end of its second season, withNiles Crane replacement Alan Cornwall assuming ever greater importanceto the series. Following the show’s abrupt cancelation, however, what’s turned out to be its final episode has ended up doubling down onFrasier’s original series finale.

The road to unsatisfying send-offs for Frasier Crane is paved with good intentions.

Alan reuniting with his daughter and meeting his baby grandchild is now the unintended finale of the reboot, leaving fans with an unwarranted sense of déjà vu.Just as Niles stole Frasier’s thunder in the original series finalewith the arrival of his new baby, his replacement in the revival finale has unintentionally done the same thing.

Frasier’s writers might not have meant to end its reboot in this way. But the road to unsatisfying send-offs for Frasier Crane is paved with good intentions, it seems.
