Prime Video has released the full trailer for their new thrillerThe Girlfriend, and it just might be your next streaming obsession. StarringOlivia Cooke, Robin Wright, and Laurie Davidson. Davidson stars as Daniel, who introduces his new girlfriend Cherry (Cooke) to his mother Laura (Wright) and things don’t exactly go according to plan.
In the trailer forThe Girlfriend, Laura becomes increasingly paranoid that Cherry is not who she says she is and is actually out to steal her son from her. Cherry subtly provokes Laura, making eye contact with her while kissing Daniel and committing other transgressions that make her question what she believes is going on. Check out the trailer below:

Cooke has been tearing up the screen inHouse of the Dragonand though her character Alicent is loathsome, her performance has been lauded - and rightfully so. InThe Girlfriend, Cooke seems to be building on thescheming nature of Alicentas her character Cherry comes between mother and son.
Even as Cherry and Daniel’s relationship comes under the microscope, though, it seems that Laura might have some questions to answer about her own obsession with her son and whether it’s a healthy dynamic. Is she just paranoid that she may lose Daniel to this woman who seemingly hates her, or is she afraid to let go of the only man in her life?
