All things must end, but for fans of the mobile game showHQ Trivia, that end came fairly recently. The show, which allowed the audience to compete against one another for real money, recently held its final stream, and it was quite something for anyHQ Triviafans lucky, or unlucky, enough to catch it.

In a final, booze-filled send off to the show, hosts Matt Richards and Anna Roisman took to the internet to deliver fans one last live stream for a grand prize of a whopping $5. The winnings were split between 523 players, leaving them with just under a penny each, but that was hardly the point. Near the end of the stream, which lasted about 40 minutes– far longer than the usual time– Roisman says that those still watching are the “real fans” of thenow-defunctHQ.

“Take your time to buy some extra lives,” Matt Richard says at one point, “I wish we had an extra life for the company.” The pair 0f hosts fluctuated back and forth between jovialness, absurdity, and some sad anecdotes about the company’s demise, includingwhyHQhad failed. Roisman busts open a large bottle of champagne at the beginning, which was originally being saved for if the show ever crossed 3 million players. The entire stream is bizarre but interesting to watch, though it is filled with NSFW language, so viewers beware.

Unfortunately,HQ Trivia’sfate is sealed.Scott Rogowosky, one of the show’s former hosts, had some harsh words for why it shut down, with many of the show’s fans agreeing that it had been mismanaged. It’s always possible that someone resurrects the show eventually, but for now,HQ Triviais done.

It’s unfortunate to see something that so many fans enjoyed go away, butHQTriviahad been on a downward spiralfor some time. It isn’t uncommon to see a company go out of business, especially in the games industry, where layoffs and shutdowns happen frequently,  though it is weird seeing the last breath of a company broadcasted to a massive audience.HQis now gone, but the impact the company had will likely be around for some time.
