Mickey Haller’s team inThe Lincoln Lawyerincludes fantastic characters who add to the story, but not all of them have the same likability. Netflix’s hit show, based onMichael Connelly’sThe Lincoln Lawyerbooks, has become one of the best original shows, garnering a passionate fanbase.

Part of why it’s been so successful is its fantastic cast and excellent storytelling approach. WhileThe Lincoln Lawyeris alegal drama, it puts a lot more attention on character development than other shows in the genre. The people involved in the legal cases are just as important toThe Lincoln Lawyeras the crimes and trials.

With Mickey as the main character, it naturally follows that we get to know his team extremely well. Over the course of three (soon to be four) seasons, Mickey Haller’s team has included seven individuals, including his drivers. While all of them are integral to the team, some of them are more likable than the others.

Legal Siegel isn’t a formal part of Mickey Haller’s team, but I’ve included him in the list because he gives Mickey advice on his cases. Although I’m fond of thisThe Lincoln Lawyercharacter, David “Legal” Siegel, unfortunately, ranks in last place when it comes to likability becausehe is the fanbase’s most hated recurring character in the show.

The biggest complaint about Legal is that he doesn’t have a personality. People say Elliott Gould seems like he’s just reading lines rather than acting. I have to admit that his character’s primary purpose appears to be providing exposition, which could contribute to this feeling. Legal is a go-to when Mickey needs advice.

The Lincoln Lawyer Lorna Taylor Becki Newton

He and Mickey rarely appear onscreen together unless the younger lawyer needs Legal’s suggestions on how to handle a case. As such, he mainly just explains law concepts. Since Legal is returning inThe Lincoln Lawyerseason 4, they will have the chance to expand his character, leaning into his role as a father figure and emotional confidant to Mickey.

6Lorna Crane

No members of Mickey Haller’s team are completely unlikable to me. However, Lorna lands low on the list because she has a divisive personality that can be an acquired taste. She has a sunny disposition that can be overwhelming. While other members of the team are also optimists, she has higher energy than they do, which can be draining at times.

Lorna becomes a lot more widely likable starting in season 3, when she goes through law school and starts her career as a lawyer. She experiences obstacles that make her a little less peppy all the time. Though she still maintains her sunny disposition most of the time, it’s balanced out with moments of frustration and stress.

To be clear, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with this kind of personality. Lorna isn’t “too much.” I actually enjoy Lorna most of the time, especially inThe Lincoln Lawyerseasons 2 and 3. However, not everyone will vibe with this type of energy, while other characters have personalities that are agreeable to a broader audience.

5Maggie McPherson

Although she wasn’t a part of Mickey’s team in the first three seasons, Maggie willhelp with his defense inThe Lincoln Lawyerseason 4. This will be a major change for the character, who has worked for the prosecution up to this point. Rather than landing at the top or the bottom of the list, Maggie lands in the middle when it comes to the most likable characters on the team.

Neve Campbell’s Maggie McPherson will return in all ten episodes ofThe Lincoln Lawyerseason 4 after only appearing in two episodes of season 3.

Cisco wearing sunglasses in The Lincoln Lawyer

Mickey’s first ex-wife has many lovable traits that make her some fans’ favorite character.Maggie is strong-willed, driven, and dedicated to her morals. Her success as a prosecutor proves that she’s intelligent as well, asall the lawyers inThe Lincoln Lawyerneed analytical skills to succeed.

At the same time, she has one big trait that makes her unlikable to many fans. Maggie’s morality is extremely black and white, and she takes it out on Mickey because of his job. She cannot understand why he would work as a defense attorney. Unfortunately, her statements come across as sanctimonious at times.

4Dennis “Cisco” Wojciechowski

Cisco gets a lot of undeserved hatebecause the actor’s voice is extremely gravelly, which some people think is distracting. (If you listen to the actor’s interviews, Angus Sampson’s voice is extremely similar to Cisco’s, except Australian instead of from Los Angeles). However, the character’s personality is actually very lovable.

Mickey’s investigator is an extremely loyal friend, a hard worker, and a caring fiancé (and later, husband). He’s willing to put himself in dangerous and frequently illegal situations to help loved ones. He’s warm. He’s funny. He doesn’t get intimidated by his wife, who is a strong woman with a powerful career.

What’s more, he is integral to Mickey’s cases inThe Lincoln Lawyer, more so than everyone except Lorna. Cisco is fantastic at his job, so he frequently finds the information and evidence that solves the cases. That being said, he’s not the most charismatic character in the cast, resulting in Cisco landing in the middle of the group.

3Izzy Letts

Divided opinions are common when it comes to Mickey’s team, and the strong opinions from fans just go to show how passionateThe Lincoln Lawyer’s fanbase is. However, it’s undeniable that Izzy has a more widely likeable personality than other characters.

Izzy is a lot less cheerful than characters like Lorna and Mickey. Her life experience has made her a bit jaded but she isn’t a pessimist either. Instead, she has a very realistic and pragmatic view of the world, which is a perfect trait for Mickey’s driver in seasons 1 and 2.

Eddie Rojas stands by the door in The Lincoln Lawyer season 3

It’s nice that Mickey and anyone watching who has recovered from addiction has a character who understands their experience. I feel like Izzy often offers him a grounded perspective when he needs it the most. On top of that, she’s snarky and humorous, providing difficult moments with some levity.

The only big downfall when it comes to Izzy is that her story inThe Lincoln Lawyerseason 3 was distracting. This was the most jam-packed and high-stakes season (at least untilThe Lincoln Lawyerseason 4), and they gave her dance storyline too much time. That’s more of a narrative issue than a character issue, though.

2Mickey Haller

Of the four core members of Mickey Haller’s team (Lorna, Cisco, Izzy, and Mickey), it’s unsurprising to know that the main character would be the most likable. Since the story is primarily told from his point of view, we know most about who he is, what he thinks, and how he feels.

Mickey is an optimistic and emotionally aware man who cares deeply about his family and friends. He has a bit of a puppy dog personality in his relationships, being very loving towards his girlfriends. He feels passionate about jazz music and food, and it gives me joy to watch him enjoy his interests.

On top of all those great traits,Mickey is extremely empathetic, and he has a strong sense of justice. Unlike Maggie, he doesn’t let that give him a holier-than-thou perspective towards others. That being said, he does have some flaws, like other characters in the show. He often puts his work before his family and makes decisions based on his heart instead of his head.

1Eddie Rojas

Even though he only appeared inThe Lincoln Lawyerfor half a season, Eddie is unquestionably the most likable member of Mickey’s team. He has a puppy dog persona and is extremely friendly. Because he’s younger, he still has his optimistic disposition, not yet hardened to the world. He feels like a Gen Z version of Mickey in many ways.

At the same time, he is also wise beyond his years, especially when it comes to emotional intelligence.Eddie is extremely in touch with his feelings and those of the people around him. He even crochets. This made it all the more painful whenThe Lincoln Lawyerkilled Eddie, pulling the rug out from underneath most fans.

Anyone who read the books knew it was coming, but it doesn’t change the impact. Although we’ll move forward loving the show, many fans, myself included, will never get over Eddie’s death. What’s more, it will be hard forThe Lincoln Lawyerto ever introduce a character that’s more likable than Eddie Rojas.
