Winter 2024’s anime line-upseems pretty promising so far. The latest anime to be added to the line-up is the adaptation ofThe Unwanted Undead Adventurer. A new teaser promotional video was just released this week, revealing a little more about this new adaptation. The video also previewed the anime’s theme song artists and officially announced its addition to the Winter 2024 line-up.
This new video was released at the 10 Anniversary Memorial Overlap Bunko All-Star Assemble Special, which was live-streamed on Sunday, October 15. The video previewed theopening theme song, “Immortal,” by JUVENILE, a DJ/artist. It also announced that the ending song will be done by Mao Abe, though the title has not yet been released.

The Unwanted Undead Adventurerfollows the story of young adventurer Rentt Faina, who unfortunately is neither good nor bad atmonster hunting. His mediocre talent leads to a lot of small-level hunts for goblins and slimes, and nothing more satisfying. That all changes when he ends up facing an unexpected dragon - who swallows him whole. That is not the end of Rentt’s story, though, as he returns as a skeleton, neither living nor dead. His adventuring takes a different turn as he tries to find a way to become human and return to the land of the living again.
The Unwanted Undead Adventurerlight novel series is written by Yuu Okano. It was initially published in 2016 on the website Shōsetsuka ni Narō, before being picked up and published by OVERLAP in print. It is illustrated by Jaian. OVERLAP’s manga website Comic Gardo also began to publish a manga adaptation ofThe Unwanted Undead Adventurerin 2017 written by Haiji Nakasone.
This new anime adaptation by CONNECT revealed much of the cast and crew, including some big names. These include director Noriaki Akitaya (Bakuman), scriptwriter Yukie Sugawara (Overlord), and the vocal talents of Mikako Komatsu (Jujutsu Kaisen), Ryouta Suzuki (Kaguya-sama: Love is War), and Sayumi Suzushiro (alsoKaguya-sama: Love is War).
The Unwanted Undead Adventureris set to premiere on Crunchyroll in January 2024.
