Other than Steve, the villagers are the primary residents of the Overworld inA Minecraft Movie. As is established at the beginning ofA Minecraft Movie, Steve is the first human to ever enter the Overworld, a dimension that is made up of blocks. The Overworld is the home to many different animals and monsters, such as sheep, pigs, skeletons, zombies, creepers, and, of course, chicken jockeys. However, the villagers also reside in the Overworld inA Minecraft Movie.

Since the villagers don’t speak English and cannot communicate effectively withA Minecraft Movie’smain characters, they are not necessarily an important part of the story. While they do not take part in the war against Malgosha and her army of zombified piglins at theend ofA Minecraft Movie, one villager does enter the real world near the beginning of the film. After spending some time in the real world, this villager, who can be reffered to as the nitwit, actually starts to speak English, proving that villagers can speak more than just their own language.

A Minecraft Movie’s Villagers Communicate Through Mumbling & Groans

A Minecraft Movie’s Villagers Have Their Own Language

Just like in the video game, the Overworld inA Minecraft Movielikely consists of thousands of villagers. However, only one village is included in the film. While gathering supplies for their mission, Steve leads the rest of the characters to Midport Village, which he has helped to build throughout his years in the Overworld. In Midport Village, Garrett, Henry, Natalie, and Dawn encounter several villagers, but quickly learn that they cannot communicate with them.

The villagers in the film sound exactly like they do in theMinecraftvideo game.

Instead of speaking English or another language that is spoken in the real world, the villagers inA Minecraft Moviecommunicate with each other through mumbles and groans. The villagers in the film sound exactly like they do in theMinecraftvideo game. This is their own language, but obviously can’t be understood by any of the other characters in the film, which means that the villagers are not that important toA Minecraft Movie’sstory.

The Villagers Couldn’t Talk With A Minecraft Movie’s Characters Because They Hadn’t Learned English

The Nitwit Learns English In A Minecraft Movie

Even though the villagers in Midport Village can’t speak with the characters, the firstpost-credits scene ofA Minecraft Moviereveals that they are capable of learning English. After entering the real world, the nitwit ends up going on a date with Marlene, who is played by Jennifer Coolidge. Marlene hilariously tries to speak with the nitwit on their date, and just tells the waiter that he can’t understand because he’s Finnish. However,by the end of the film, Marlene and the nitwit can communicate with each other.

The villagers have never learned English in the Overworld, but it clearly doesn’t take the nitwit that long to learn the language. Therefore, the post-credits scene ofA Minecraft Movieconfirms that villagers can speak different languages. During his time in the Overworld, Steve could have taught the villagers English, but was obviously too distracted by his other projects. This reveal at the end ofA Minecraft Moviewas hilarious, and opens up the door for villagers to have a larger role in a potential sequel.
