Day zero of E3 2016 has been an exciting one for the team at Telltale Games. The adventure games creator started the day out withthe reveal ofBatman - The Telltale Gameand just a few hours later the team is back to provide the first look atThe Walking Dead Season 3.

Telltale’sThe Walking Deadhas been a fan favorite series and helped birth a renaissance of modern narrative-driven adventure games. Thesecond season of the game wasn’t as well-reviewedas the first, but was still a wild ride. The sophomore season is full of options that can impact the ending and each conclusion leaves a few fan-favorite characters in some very different places.

Although it’s unclear howSeason 3will reconcile the different endings of the second season, the trailer doesn’t dance around putting the spotlight on a major character…

After a veryWalking Deadcouple of moments watching a zombie slowly walk around,Clementine shows up (as predicted)on screen and takes the walker out. She appears to be with a new companion who doesn’t look familiar from previous games or from the books.

Franchise co-creator Robert Kirkman has hinted thatSeason 3will tie into the comicsin an interesting way, but this reveal trailer doesn’t seem to reveal any more about those plans. The mention of the mark on the walker doesn’t sound familiar, but maybe a hardcore comics will be able to tie the reference back to a specific story arc that we’re forgetting. It’s much more likely that the mark will tie-in directly to the main conflict inSeason 3.

With bothBatmanandThe Walking Deadcoming up, Telltale is in for a very exciting year. If the games can stay on schedule with their episodic content, then fans of tough moral decisions and branching dialogue trees should have plenty to keep themselves busy.
