Many gamers were very excited to find out thatDestiny 2would bebringing the sci-fi shooter franchise over to PCsin addition to consoles, but the staggered release has caused some concern in the community. Console gamers are able to dive intoDestiny 2on September 6, a full month and a half earlier thanPC players who join the fight on October 24. TheDestinyteam is aware that this isn’t ideal, but the developers do have some good intentions behind the later release date for the PC version.

During E3, GameSpot caught up withDestiny’scommunity manager to chat about why the PC version is arriving in late October instead of early September. As you might expect, it comes down to a desire to take the time to release the highest quality product possible for the PC crowd.

Here is whatDestinycommunity manager David “Deej” Dague had to say about the PC release date…

“We want to make sure that we’re building a product that we feel is worthy of the PC gaming community… We want to make sure that it’s a product that we’re excited to ship. We want to make sure it’s the best game that the PC can enjoy. And it’s our first time serving them in quite a long time, so we’re committed to getting that right.”

Obviously PC gamers don’t want to play the game until it is completed and bug-free, but waiting around for almost two months while console gamers level up and tackle the first raids is still frustrating. In a game that encourages racing to the highest level, waiting around while your console friends get maxed out isn’t very appealing.

It will be interesting to see if the delayed launch ends up hurting sales of the game on PC. Some gamers are likely fine with waiting it out, but there will likely be quite a few players who can’t wait and will go with the console version just because it arrives earlier (this second group includes a few GameRant writers and editors…).

What do you think about the staggered release? Which platform do you plan to use to playDestiny 2? Let us know in the comments!
