These mechanics aim to assist pals to be more effective and consistent around player bases. Poorly designed bases will lead to pathing issues orpals becoming depressed, which dampens their work speed significantly. Larger bases are more prone to facing issues regarding pal sanity. The pal pathing inPalworldis not perfect and needs players to adjust their bases to lower the chances of pals glitching.
1Keeping SAN High
Usefulness: Prevents Low Moods
With higher workloads and harsh work conditions, pals are more prone to becoming depressed. The monitor stand allows players to change pal work behavior. Players can set pals to work harder but SAN will deplete faster, especially if players have not set up measures to restore it.
High-quality foods are thebest method to increase sanity, as foods like berries provide no sanity increase when consumed. Foods crafted from the cooking pot are a great choice. Building many hot springs is another great way to keep pals happy. Having one hot spring for every four to five pals will ensure that there is always a hot spring available for pals on a short break.
2Location & Spread
Usefulness: Prevent Pal Pathing Issues
Whenscouting for a base location, finding a large patch of flat terrain takes the cake. SincePalworldcan be a little glitchy with pathing and building on curved terrain, sticking to flatter areas gives the best results in the long term.
Use the whole base zone to spread out areas of interest, as cramming everything in one spot can lead to pathing issues for pals. Players can use the deconstruct mode to demolish objects and obtain all the resources without any material loss. Using the deconstruct mode frequently is great for optimizing the base layout and fixing areas with issues.
3Scatter Chests
Usefulness: Convenient Storage & Quicker Transporter Pals
A chest’s contents within player bases will always count when crafting and building. Scattering chests across a base is a great idea to ensure pals always have a nearby location to deposit their materials. Having a chest right next to a logging camp or stone pit allows players to manually move resources without facing frustration from the encumbered effect.
At the game’s start, players can only create cheap storage containers with limited capacity.Metal chests offer the first large container, but are difficult to mass produce if players do not have automated ore harvesting.
4Using Current Pal
Usefulness: Extra Helping Hand
Aside from the base pals, players can use their own team pals to deploy to a base, and they will start finding work. Players can also have a personal assistant by using apal with high handiworkand have them speed up any crafting required. While idle at a base, deploying a pal will provide access to an extra working hand to help out with tasks.
Having a small feed bag filled with food is essential if players plan on going idle while using a team pal to help out at their base.
5Pal Bed Placement
Usefulness: Faster Start & Better Rest
Pal bed placement can raise a few issues and require a few adjustments. Indoor beds can cause larger pals to have pathing issues, so expanding the height will accommodate more pals. Having the pals' sleeping area near the center of the base will help pals easily reach any area throughout the base.
Switching out old straw beds andupgrading to a fluffy pal bedwill give pals better sleep by improving their SAN regen. Low SAN will cause pals to be unproductive, sleep during the day, and possibly develop the depression debuff.
6Diversity
Usefulness: Efficient Base Team
There are twelve work traits for pals and each pal has a different set of points in them. Beginner pals usually have low points in their work skills and are not likely to have more than one work type. Constantly analyzing and switching base pals for ones with better level skills is a great way to gradually improve base efficiency.
Using pals witha high level of one work skillis better than jack-of-all-trade pals, as they work much faster. Having one or two good transporting pals is essential for larger bases as no player enjoys manually moving any items.
7Ore Base
Usefulness: Automated Source Of Ore
Establishing a second base quickly is essential to stay on top of all the metal requirements players will have later in the game. Players can create a second base once their first one reaches level 10. The second base should be devoted to mining ore atan ore-rich location.
The main requirement to set up a secondary base is to use a few miner pals alongside one or two transport pals and a feed box. Since bases allow players to fast travel, players can easily move the harvested ore to their main base where it will be smelted and used. It’s also recommended to use dark-type pals, as they will continue to work throughout the night and harvest ores as soon as they spawn.
