However, any member who took advantage of the SUBtember discount, whether nefariously or as originally intended, will be keeping the subscription at the promotional price. There is also no impact on creators, who have helpedTwitch post record numbers.
With a reach as large as Twitch and the sheer scale of the company, it is only realistic that it would make some mistakes. Perhaps glitches in discounts and promotions are a bit easier to swallow than things likelawsuits involving female streamers, however. The good thing with regard to the SUBtember discount issue is that the creators haven’t been negatively affected and that the promotion still exists for those who have or continue to take advantage of it. And the promotion itself is very helpful for those who want to start supporting creators.
Twitch is in an interesting place, and one that many companies would be happy to be in. It is continuing to grow, has completely beat out competition like Mixer, and even seems a bit more set up for success with the COVID-19 pandemic than most. Even during the ups and downs of the company, it continues to see major streamers find genuine success. So given some of the mix-ups or struggles that can occur with a large corporation, the platform seems to be handling most things as well as it can.
