Content creators get banned fromTwitchevery day. There are even rumors that somestreamers like Amouranth get banned on purposefor the attention it draws to their channel, a theory which she denies. Often, the exact reason a content creator receives a ban from Twitch is not clarified by the platform, leaving viewers and even the streamer uncertain of the cause. Of course, content creators may be given reasons that they simply choose to not reveal to their audience.

Berry0314 is a Korean streamer and professional dancer, who is primarily known for dancing onscreen in a suggestive manner while wearing tight or minimal clothing. Although her streams tend to fit into theJust Chatting category on Twitch, Berry has been known to occasionally play games on her channel as well. Since starting her channel in September 2020, Berry has amassed a following of nearly half a million viewers on Twitch and 135,000 on Instagram.

On February 4, Berry livestreamed on Twitch and performed a dance wearing a sports bra and leggings, and at one point the content creator pulled out a pair of handcuffs as a prop. Only a few hours later, the content creator received anindefinite ban from Twitchwith no explanation given other than the message that appears on her now empty channel page that states, “This channel is currently unavailable due to a violation of Twitch’s Community Guidelines or Terms of Service.”

Berry has not shared whether she received a clear reason for her removal from the platform, but the content creator posted a photo on Instagram with the caption, “I’m trying to smile and keep [a] positive mind.” The theorized reason for Berry’s indefinite ban from Twitch was that a VOD of her suggestive dance was shared on LiveStreamFails, which resulted in some viewers reporting her for sexual content.

Many people, not just her followers, believe that the punishment received was too harsh. An indefinite ban is given for the most serious offenses on the platform and is second only to a permanent ban. It means that even the content creator is uncertain when or if they will be able to return to Twitch and are thus left in a kind of limbo.Twitch streamer Axiun received an indefinite banin September 2019 and was only allowed to return to the platform in October 2021. Sometimes these bans are justified, but Twitch has gained a reputation for banning smaller streamers while more popular content creators receive no consequences for similar behavior.

Berry has been banned fromTwitchonce before, in February 2021, for an incident that didn’t directly involve her. A man, presumed to be Berry’s husband, began a livestream using her account and began to smash objects around the house. At one point, the man cut himself and began bleeding, and it’s believed that this was the reason that Berry’sTwitchaccount was suspended for seven days.
