Many streamers that had found a home onMixerare now scrambling to rebuild their communities on new platforms and salvage their livelihoods after Microsoft announced theFacebook Gaming partnership. As a result, a number of these popular streamers have returned toTwitchand YouTube, hoping to keep the success they had previously found on the Microsoft owned Mixer.

One of these streamers includes Jaiscot, who has made the transfer over toTwitchafter his livelihood was threatened by the sudden closure of Mixer. However, Jaiscot was somewhat surprised to find overwhelming support when making the transition to Twitch, as opposed to attempting to follow Microsoft into a partnership with Facebook gaming, which streamers likeNinja and Shroud also rejected.

Unfortunately, while this one moment of support is heartwarming, there is no guarantee that this will be the same experience for everyone who has to make the transition from Mixer to Twitch, YouTube, or Facebook Gaming. While the current outrage for theMixer shutdownis still fresh, and the compassion of the community to support the stranded streamers, there will likely be more stories like this in an attempt to keep the community working. However, there’s no telling how long this influx will last, and in all likelihood, streamers like Jaiscot are in for a difficult period in the coming months, making the boons their gaining now all the more important.

The current situation is going to be difficult for the community, from fans who will be losing emotes and other benefits from subscribing on Mixer, to streamers whose source of income has become uncertain. This is also coming during an uncertain moment asaccusations of abuse impact streaming communities, where platforms like YouTube and Twitch are cracking down on the toxicity among some of these individuals. So, while this does make the story of Jaiscot a pleasant representation of what the community can accomplish, those affected by the current climate are going to have to brace for the difficult time to come.
