Set Uplay to ‘offline’ mode before booting!

What’s better than a publisher forcing a proprietary service into a game? A publisher forcing a proprietary service into a game that screws everything up. Reports are coming in that Ubisoft’s mandatory Uplay service isn’t providingmuchof a service, and users can’t get online.
Far Cry 3is available in Europe and the United Kingdom right now, but the PC servers are going down now the general public is on the loose. Ubisoft hasTweeted an apology, but it’s hardly recompense for a problem that only exists because the publisher contrived a situation in which such a problem could occur.
These issues are reportedly affecting the single-player aspect, with solo play unavailable while the servers are dead.Reddithas found a way to work around the worst of the server issues with a simple fix — setting Uplay to “offline” mode before booting up the game. It’s a shame this has happened, sinceFar Cry 3is actually pretty great.
So, Uplay currently needs to be kicked offline in order to play the game that needs Uplay to be played. GREAT JOB, UBISOFT! These ridiculous bloody services serve nothing but the narcissism of the publisher.
