This obviously suggests Jyn and Leia at the very least tangentially knew one another from this meeting if not others like it, although the extent to which they interacted beyond that isn’t clear. The question nevertheless remains, though: Could Jyn Erso and Princess Leia really have met as little girls?

There’s One Big Problem With This Scene
Unfortunately, The Timeline For This Makes Absolutely No Sense
I actually love the idea behind this story, not only because we get to see Bail and Saw in their fatherly roles—which is especially welcome given Saw was hardly a great father—but also because it’s nice to imagine Jyn and Leia having this connection in light of all both of them go on to sacrifice for the Rebellion.
Sadly,this story makes absolutely no sense canonically, particularly in terms oftheStar Warstimeline. We know that Leia did not become involved in Rebel activity until she was older, for one, butRogue Onealso confirmed that Saw left Jyn a full fifteen years before the events of that movie.
That means there’s next to no possibility Leia would actually have attended such a meeting with Bail Organa at that time (a notion thatStar Warsshows and movies have consistently reinforced, as Leia didn’t even know about her parents' Rebel activity until an older age), and, even if she had, Jyn likely would not have been with Saw.
With those massive contradictions, it’s unfortunately safe to assume this story is simply not canon accurate, and it remains likely Jyn and Leia never met. Even so, the image ofPrincess Leia Organa, Jyn Erso, Bail Organa, and Saw Gerrera all together before the events ofRogue One: A Star Wars Storyis a pleasant one.
